About WAC

In spring 2008, Columbia Association (CA) announced the formation of its Watershed Advisory Committee (WAC). The mission of this subcommittee is to participate in the creation and implementation of CA watershed plans, enhance public awareness and facilitate education on watershed issues. In fulfilling its mission, the Committee has the following important goals.

1. To recommend:

  • techniques, procedures and approaches in the creation of  watershed policies and plans
  • management practices for watershed related issues
  • methods for monitoring progress of the watershed plan

2. To assist in the:

  • creation of specific measurable goals
  • creation and implementation of public awareness and education
  • review and update watershed plans and policies as needed

The Watershed Advisory Committee was established by CA’s External Relations Committee for the Board of Directors, who has identified watershed management as one of its key strategic initiatives. The Committee was formed due to public interest in having a watershed management plan in place to ensure CA’s effective response to watershed issues. The Committee is comprised of eleven members, one from each village and one at large member.
